Introduction:
The TVAA First Aid at Work (FAW) course is designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills to provide immediate, effective first aid in the workplace. Delivered by experienced trainers with clinical expertise, the course combines classroom learning with hands-on practice to build confidence in managing real-life emergencies. This programme is fully compliant with the Health and Safety (HSE) (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, the HSE guidance on regulations (L74), and the assessment principles for regulated first aid qualifications, ensuring that learners achieve a nationally recognised standard of competence in first aid.

Course Duration:
A minimum of 18 hours over three days. This includes both theory and practical instruction, with time allocated for demonstration, practice, and assessment.

Course Positioning:
This course is aimed at individuals looking to qualify in first aid at work. No prior experience is necessary.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, learners will have the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to recognise and respond effectively to a wide range of workplace first aid emergencies. They will be able to manage incidents safely, provide immediate life-saving interventions, and support casualties until professional help arrives.

Teaching and Learning:
Courses are delivered using a combination of lectures, workshops, practical skills stations, and immersive simulation.

Assessment and Certification:
Learners are assessed through observation, feedback, and structured evaluation at the end of the course. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of all required elements.

Introduction:
Our First Aid at Work Refresher (FAWR) course is designed for qualified first aiders who hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and are approaching requalification. The course reinforces essential life-saving skills, updates learners in line with current best practice and ensures continued competence in managing workplace emergencies. Delivered by experienced trainers with clinical backgrounds in pre-hospital and emergency care, the programme revisits core principles of assessment, prioritisation and intervention. The course complies with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and current HSE guidance (L74), maintaining nationally recognised standards.

Course Duration:
A minimum of 12 hours over two days.

Course Positioning:
This course is intended for individuals who currently hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate and need to requalify before expiry. Evidence of prior certification is required.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion, learners will demonstrate continued proficiency in managing adult casualties in a wide range of emergency scenarios. They will refresh and refine their practical skills in CPR and AED use, reassess their ability to manage serious injury and acute illness, and maintain the confidence and decision-making capability required of a workplace first aider. Successful completion renews the full First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification for a further three years.

Introduction:
The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is a one-day programme designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond to life-threatening emergencies in the workplace. The course is compliant with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and associated HSE guidance (L74), meeting the needs of low-risk working environments or organisations requiring an appointed emergency first aider. Delivered by experienced clinicians and educators, the programme combines clear, structured teaching with hands-on practice to ensure learners develop both technical competence and the confidence to act decisively during an incident. Emphasis is placed on scene safety, structured casualty assessment, effective communication and timely escalation to emergency services.

Course Duration:
A minimum of 6 hours over one day.

Course Positioning:
This qualification is appropriate for individuals designated as emergency first aiders in low-risk workplaces, including office-based, retail, hospitality and community settings. It may also be suitable for small organisations where a full First Aid at Work qualification is not required following completion of a workplace first aid needs assessment.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, learners will be able to undertake a primary survey of a casualty, identify life-threatening conditions, and initiate appropriate emergency care. They will demonstrate competence in performing adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation and using an automated external defibrillator safely and effectively. Learners will also be able to manage choking, control severe external bleeding, recognise and treat shock, and provide appropriate care for minor injuries.
