As you may know we have a team of 25 brave supporters climbing Kilimanjaro for us on the 18th of February 2017 including our very own Events Fundraising Manager Kate Martin, TVAA volunteer Carol O’Loughlin and TVAA HEMS doctor Stewart Mcmorran.

So far, we have raised a staggering £72,000 with donations still coming in!

They have all been training hard making walking trip to places like Pen Y Fan in South Wales, Snowdon, Chilterns, and other venues much further afield.

The team have been diligently researching nutritional advice for when they are trekking up the mountain to make sure they are properly fuelled. Our friends at Wycombe Leisure Centre wanted to help our climbers reach their goal of summiting Kilimanjaro and were kind enough to put on a Nutrition Workshop and Group Spinning Class this month. Kimberley Travers ran the nutrition workshop and gave them some useful tips on what to eat pre and post workouts to help the body recover, what snacks to take on the mountain and the best products to consume as meal replacements. The team received some great practical advice and I think dried fruit and seeds will definitely be their friends on the mountain!

The group spinning class was led by Johanna Coulson and it was a high intensity 45-minute workout and she really put them through their paces.

All in all, they are nearly ready for our climb and everyone has been so supportive. To support the campaign, you can donate online.

Good luck to everyone taking part and we can’t wait to hear all about it.
