STRONGER TOGETHER – TRAINING WITH THE FIRE SERVICE

POSTED

10/11/2018

Whilst treating patients on-scene, we work alongside other emergency services, including South Central Ambulance Service, Thames Valley Police and the Fire Service.

Our crew of Paramedics and Doctors recently joined Oxfordshire’s Fire Service at Slade Park Fire Station for a training scenario.

The crews were faced with a replicated multi-vehicle road traffic collision, which included four real vehicles.

Both emergency services worked together to effectively rescue the ‘patients’ – which were our realistic mannequins as well as three actors.

The ‘patients’ were cut out of the vehicles by the Fire Service whilst our crew used their skills and expertise to deliver advanced medical care.

The training day was a fantastic opportunity for both crews to practise working together to ensure the best possible chance of survival and recovery for patients. It also allowed them to see new equipment and new techniques each other now uses.
