March Volunteer Newsletter - Kili Completed 26 intrepid fundraisers have risen to the challenge and have scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, raising over £112,000 for TVAA in the process. Standing at 5,895m, Kilimanjaro is the world’s highest freestanding mountain. This was a challenge that required over a year of training to reach the summit. From monkeys at the Machame Gate to vivid hallucinations near the top, Team Kili faced many trials and excitements on their trek. After six tough days of trekking the team reached Uhuru Peak just in time to watch an incredible sunrise whilst standing on the roof of Africa. After a well-earned rest, TVAA Events Fundraising Manager, Kate spoke of her delight. “The trek has been incredibly hard, pushing us all both mentally and physically. I am so proud of the team for completing it. Thank you to all those people who have sponsored us and helped us out along the way.” All of us at TVAA would like to echo Kate’s congratulations to Team Kili, and thanks to all those who sponsored them.
