“From our first day trading we committed to give 10% of our operating profit to local and global charities that radically change lives. We want to support the exceptionally important work Thames Valley Air Ambulance as it is a local charity that radically changes lives. We had first-hand experience of this only a few days ago when the team were called out to a cyclist that had collapsed just in front of our team while on a charitable ride.”

Employees from Allianz UK have set themselves the target of raising over £1million for charity partner Association of Air Ambulances Charity (AAAC). The partnership will initially last three years with each Allianz branch organising fundraising activities at a local level to support their regional air ambulance service.  TVAA is engaged with Allianz Milton Keynes office with the staff positively engaging already with the charity and raising money.

We are flying high after being chosen by the Milton Keynes office of financial and business advisors Grant Thornton as its charity partner for 2017/8 with a fundraising target of £6,000. After nominating several other local charities, the Grant Thornton team voted overwhelmingly to support us. It later emerged that one of the firm’s trainee auditors had first-hand experience of the valuable service they provide after he collapsed at school as a result of a life-long heart condition.

Over the next 18 months, the Grant Thornton Milton Keynes team will be raising money for the TVAA through a series of fundraising initiatives, including cake sales and other office activities. There are also plans to organise several larger fundraising events following the success of last year’s skydive which saw 21 of Grant Thornton’s staff take to the skies in support of their previous office charity.

Irwin Mitchell

We benefitted from a record £3,000 donation from Irwin Mitchell’s Newbury office, after staff at the firm spent a year raising funds for the good cause.

Staff voted for them to be their Charity of the Year for 2017 as part of a nationwide initiative established by the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation (IMCF).

The bumper donation is £2,500 more than staff raised in 2016. Victoria Brackett, Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell’s Newbury office, said: “It’s an honour to be able to provide this record donation to a truly fantastic cause in our local community.

“Last year we celebrated 20 years of the IMCF and I am delighted that thanks to the creativity and generosity of Irwin Mitchell employees, we made our anniversary year a record breaking one.

“Everyone at IM is passionate about giving back to the communities we operate in and making a real difference to the lives of those supported by our Charities of the Year.

“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved last year. Hearing how Thames Valley Air Ambulance is going to use the donation, and how people across the county will be able to rely even more on the charity’s services, is spurring on our staff to think of bigger and better ways to fundraise.”
