TVAA is one of the busiest air ambulance services in the country and is renowned for the professionalism and dedication of its crew – the pilots, paramedics and doctors.
Our highly-trained paramedics work for us through our partnership with South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS). They bring pre-hospital medical care expertise to our patients and offer invaluable experience.
In-flight our paramedics are able to provide navigation support, and when they aren't working onboard G-TVAL or with the emergency response vehicle, they’re manning our Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) desk, making crucial decisions about which service to deploy when a call comes in.
Delivering advanced medical care, our Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Doctors bring specialist medical skills to the patient. The presence of a doctor on board the air ambulance provides a further depth of medical knowledge and the ability to carry out additional life-saving procedures such as general anaesthetics and blood transfusions at the scene.
G-TVAL, its maintenance support and our pilots are leased through our partnership with Babcock Air Services. Our pilots are carefully selected for their first class experience, as air ambulance flights are typically more challenging than non-emergency flights.
The pilots ensure that the medic crew are able to reach the patients as soon as possible in order to receive that critical care. They also ensure that the medic crew and patient are able to safely travel to hospital as quickly as possible.
