This year’s London Marathon had a record 40,000 people run it, but we were paying particular interest to six people who were running on behalf of Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Carey, Chris, Anna, Connie, Christine and Will all had very different ambitions and reasons to run for Thames Valley Air Ambulance but were united in their dedication to help save lives.

Between them they ran 157 miles, which is the distance from Newbury to Milton Keynes and back, and raised a massive £7,660 for the charity. The fundraising efforts have raised enough money to cover three life-saving missions on the helicopter.

They all have fantastic stories to tell about their training, the marathon and fundraising and we thank the six of them, and all those who sponsored them.

We have to give a special mention to Anna and Connie. Anna finished the race in a blistering time of 2 hours 37 minutes and was the first female to finish in the Championship Race. Connie was our leading fundraiser, raising a massive £3,732 so far!

The ballot for the 2018 London Marathon opens on Monday 1st May to 5th May. Whilst we don’t have guaranteed places for runners, we’d love you to run for us, so please enter the ballot.

If you are interested in Rising to the Challenge we have places in charity runs, skydives and other charity challenges throughout the year.
