24 Cakes in A&E It was a scrumptious start to a Friday morning for the staff at the John Radcliffe Emergency Department as they organised a Bake Off for Take Off in aid of TVAA. There were dozens of entries ranging from a pistachio cake to a helicopter cake. The overall winner was Alan Hayward, a nurse at the JR with his mouth-watering lemon drizzle. The department’s Bake Off for Take Off raised over £200 in just a few hours. Sally Beer, Research Nurse at the John Radcliffe Hospital, said, “It’s great to fundraise for Thames Valley Air Ambulance. We work closely with the crew every day and Bake Off for Take Off was a perfect way of supporting the life-saving charity.” Sarah Williamson, Head of Communications at TVAA, said she was delighted that the JR continued to support TVAA in its work. “We have strong links with the JR. A number of our doctors are based there, and the helicopter regularly transports patients to the specialist hospital. It’s brilliant to continue our professional relationship into the fundraising world.” It’s easy to organise a Bake Off for Take Off, just register your interest here and download your free digital support pack.
