Last week, our supporters were treated to a wonderfully festive Christmas fair at Highclere Castle, the grand home of the Crawley family from the ITV drama Downton Abbey.

For fifteen years, Lord and Lady Carnarvon have shared the castle with the public for this event. The visitors explored the history of the castle, its grounds and an Egyptian Exhibition. The family kindly donated some of the proceeds to us to support out vital emergency medical care.

The castle looked like a scene straight out of Downton Abbey’s Christmas special as it was adorned with joyous decorations, a magnificent tree, carol singers and a range of enticing stalls. Fans of the series received the full Downton Abbey experience as the familiar Drawing Room and Dining room, where the characters played by Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville often convened, were open for exploration.

Not only did the guests have the castle to admire, they were also treated to an appearance from our helicopter, the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and the crew. Paramedics, Doctors and the helicopter pilot enjoyed mingling with the shoppers and seeing the castle.

Excitingly, Dr Chloe was interviewed by ITV Meridian and gave an insight into the progress the charity has made as well as its future plans.

Commenting on the successful event, Lady Carnarvon said, “We are delighted to have supported TVAA through our annual Christmas Fair at Highclere Castle for the last fifteen years. This charity provides essential emergency medical care for those in critical need. It is a vital service that without the generosity of the public could not be sustained.”

We would like to thanks Lord and Lady Carnavon for supporting us at their Christmas Fair for so long. Thanks to the generosity of them and the public who come and donate, we can continue to develop our service to reach those who need it most, wherever they are.
