News and Media Blog From Volunteer to Marathon Runner In September 2013 Carey Ballard received the phone call that no mother wants – her daughter Charlotte was involved in a serious car accident. Charlotte was flown to the John Radcliffe Major Trauma Unit by Thames Valley Air Ambulance which helped save the teenagers life. Since then Carey has been on a mission to help the Charity by volunteering at local events. But now Carey has put away the collection bucket and table cloth and put on a pair of trainers – she now has a place in the 2017 London Marathon. When awarded the place, Carey said, “I would like to do my little bit and try and raise £2,500 - the cost of one single flight. I'm going to do all the hard work! Please could you donate anything you can, for this amazing and vital charity.” We wish Carey the best of luck and you can donate now on her JustGiving page.
